Jewish Caucus Purim Happy Hours – Be a Host!
March 2, 2006 at 1:05 am | Posted in Announcements + Events | Leave a commentOn March 13th as Jews all over the world usher in the holiday of Purim
the Jewish Caucus is going to celebrate by hosting happy hours all
over the country. We are currently looking for volunteers to
coordinate such events in cites across America.
Right now we have coordinators for Baltimore, Washington DC, Las
Vegas, and New York. We would love to have at least ten cities
involved.
The only thing we ask is to start after sundown in respect for those
fasting on Monday to observe the Fast of Esther, which is observed in
commemoration of the Fast observed by Mordechai and Esther and all
Israel. Megillah readings are traditiaonlly held right after the fast
ends so later events would be better so that everyone who wants to can
go hear the megillah readings first. To find a megillah reading near
you contact the local Hillel or Jewish Federation. Also, please make
sure all locations are ADA compliant.
If you are interested in being a coordinator please let me know by
Friday afternoon.
Thank you,
Stephanie Hausner
